Modification required to cross brace for pulley clearance need to drive A/C.
Metal shaped to reinforce cross brace.
Reinforcement welded in place.
Cross brace finish painted after being reinforced. Ready for engine installation.

Alternator bracket supplied by Vintage Air modified for this installation. Also note bolt holes have been drilled and tapped into engine block to accept mount.
Alternator is a General Motors (1) wire type, available at any parts retailer. Note: The front adjustable brace, which was supplied in bracket kit from Vintage Air. www.vintageair.com

Alternator bracket at rear angle.

A/C compressor supplied by Vintage Air in place, using Healey generator bracket for mounting. A long grade 8 bolt and nylock nut is used with galvanized steel pipe cut for proper spacer to align compressor with pulleys. The pulley on the crank was made by finding a junk yard pulley of the proper diameter, with no front to rear offset, and having the center cut out and spacer being machined to make it fit between the factory pulley and the engine balancer. Longer bolts and liquid lock tight was also used.
Lower A/C adjustable bracket is the original generator bracket, however it was necessary to lengthen it.
Lower A/C bracket at different angle.
A/C hose routing using existing heater air supply opening. This will get a 2-piece blanking plate cut and secured to seal the opening around the hoses on bulkhead. Also shown is the position of the drier with safety switch.

A/C hose routing showing hose to A/C condenser.
A/C condenser and electric cooling fan. The radiator has also been modified with an extra row of water tubes. In addition, rally louvers were installed in the front fender to aid in engine cooling.
(See web page on louvers).
Lower radiator hose modified to go behind alternator to fit up with radiator. Hard copper with 90 degree elbows were soldered together to make a rigid section of hose along with factory hose cut and used giving heater tap.
Under dash unit combines A/C evaporator, heater, defroster and fan all in one unit. This picture shows the vacuum control switches and some of the necessary wiring and tubing. I did weld studs to the upper bulkhead to hang unit from.
Under dash unit mounted. Note the control panel in center of dash. This will be changed.
Control panel was omitted taking the switches from it and placing them in the original Healey heater control panel for an original look.

Note: There is now bracket for the Healey which does not require changing the crank pulley. You replace the generator bracket with a heavy duty mounting plate for the compressor. An alternator mounts on top of the compressor, and runs off the rear compressor pulley.
